TSUNAMI 2010: WE SURVIVED

The day began with 3am wake up calls from the world's most awake and paranoid grandparents. While we appreciate your enthusiasm, and also CNN's sensationalism regarding our impending wall of water, next time, just let us float away. Thank you.

George's day: Drive to Kailua @ 3am to wake up Jordan, who, though he knew about the impending tsunami, and though he lives one block from the beach, turned off his phone and went to sleep. After picking up carefree Uncle Jord, George went directly to the sub to "ride out the wave" tethered to the pier.

Perry, Andrew & Uncle Jordan's day: Pack a cooler with all food in fridge, several changes of clothes, buckets of water, and flashlights. Evacuate to the middle of the island to a giant play date with friends. Spend the day eating all the food in the fridge, listening to tsunami sirens, and playing with friends.

Uncle Jord remained stressed and worried about the wave all day.

The kids enjoyed the entire tsunami experience.
